Longtime VR developer and publisher nDreams is once again facing potential layoffs.
nDreams says it has been informed of proposals to restructure the company, including a significant reduction in overall staffing levels that would impact multiple teams and levels, including senior leadership.
According to the statement, since 2024 nDreams’ staff have been divided across three internal studios: Elevation, Near Light, and Compass. Under the proposed restructure, the company says the core of the business would be Elevation, which it states currently has around 120 staff working on unannounced projects, alongside a lean group dedicated to XR R&D.
The proposals also include the closure of the Near Light and Compass studios, plus reductions across Facilities, Talent, Shared Technology, and Executive teams, with 78 roles at risk of redundancy. nDreams adds that it believes the VR games market remains challenging, and says further changes are necessary to ensure a commercially viable and sustainable future.
nDreams says it is committed to exploring every option to retain talent, and will enter a collective consultation process with impacted staff, alongside offering support throughout the process.
