Haymaker launches new character update as Console Studios targets SteamVR release in Spring 2026

From developer Console Studios - Haymaker is a physics-driven VR brawler built around “no-holds-barred” melee combat, with a mix of training, customizable fights, and a roguelike-style mode. The game is currently available in Early Access on Meta Quest and is sporting a “Top Seller” status.

Console Studios is targeting a Spring 2026 launch for Haymaker on SteamVR, with the studio stating the PCVR version will arrive with full content parity to the Meta Quest edition. Looking beyond launch, the studio’s Steam roadmap also includes plans for improved graphical features and dynamic lighting.

Alongside the SteamVR plans, Console Studios has also released a new content update focused on expanding Sandbox mode. The update adds more ways to customize fights, allowing players to tailor street fights to their preferences, and introduces a range of new character designs aimed at increasing the variety of encounters.

Console Studios founder James Console said the game’s reception has been strong and that the studio is working to keep up with player feedback, adding that Haymaker’s success and the upcoming SteamVR edition are leading the team to increase headcount.

Further down the line, Console Studios also teased additional content, including an MMA-style Octagon location and a new tournament mode, which the studio says will complement each other and emphasize Haymaker’s “raw combat.”

Haymaker is available now in Early Access on Meta Quest for $14.99 USD.
