Cards & Tankards plans Season Three launch in March 2026 alongside new 25-card expansion
Cards & Tankards is preparing for its next big competitive push, with the team framing the coming update as one of the game’s largest mechanical evolutions so far - built in collaboration with the community-driven Card Design and Balance Team.
The game is set to enter its third competitive season by March 2026, alongside the release of a new 25-card expansion.
At the center of the expansion is the introduction of Relics, a new card type being added to every faction. Relics are summoned like creatures, but they don’t participate in combat and don’t exhaust when played. Each Relic includes a limited number of Sparks of Aether, which are spent to activate its effects; once those sparks are depleted, the Relic is destroyed. The update description says Relics are designed to add long-term planning and resource management without overwhelming the board state. In addition, each primary faction will receive a new Legendary card intended to explore new mechanical space.
Alongside the expansion and Season Three plans, the developer also highlighted several recent quality-of-life and progression updates. These include an Achievements system in the Town that rewards milestones with Gold and exclusive Titles, global deck sharing via the Town Schoolhouse with filtering and win-rate sorting, deck sharing and copying directly from the deck editor, daily quests and streak rewards (including Diamond Animated Cards and weekly grace), a Focus Card system to guarantee specific cards over time, expanded deckbuilding that allows over 40 cards for theory crafting, and deck privacy settings to hide deck information while editing. The team also says it has rebuilt card visuals into full card art, giving the game a refreshed visual look going forward.
Cards & Tankards’ new expansion and Season Three are currently planned for March 2026.
